SHARON M. BLACKNALL

Sharon M. Blacknall is the Vice President of Administration for Bertram Village in Eleuthera, Bahamas, Regional Co-Director for the American Basketball Association (ABA) South Central Region, Acting General Manager and Managing Partner of the Tri-City All-Stars ABA Professional Basketball team, Founding Board Member of The All-Stars Cares Foundation, Founder/Executive Director of the nonprofit, Military Veterans Against Child Abuse and a Children’s Book Author.
She has more than 25 years of experience hiring, managing and training employees, mentoring entrepreneurs, handling multi-million dollar budgets from initial bidding to the award and procurement phase and advocating against child abuse of any kind. She also has previous experience as a certified residential appraiser, handling ABA player and staff contracts, company sponsorship agreements, coordinating community relations activity and is the liaison between staff and public relations.
Sharon is a USAF Veteran, who was one of the first Black women, to serve as an Electronic Computer Maintenance and Switching Specialist responsible for repairing and maintaining the computer mainframes, teletypes and electronic components that controlled SACDIN. Once she left the Air Force, she worked as an Electronic Field Engineer in Southern California and Nevada servicing over 100 accounts. It was through one of her many customers, that she was offered a supervisory position that lead to her many years in casino management.
Sharon was part of the management teams responsible for opening two multi-billion dollar casino properties in Las Vegas, NV (Treasure Island and Bellagio) and the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, MS. Her duties included everything from interviewing hundreds of job applicants, designing office space, hiring a staff, developing training and operating manuals, bidding and awarding million dollar corporate contracts for services and materials, to ensuring the company’s records management program’s compliance with state and federal laws and regulations. While working for Mirage Resorts and MGM Mirage, she also volunteered and worked for different child safety, inner city youth sports programs and missing child prevention companies.
After Sharon left the casino industry, she became a Certified Residential and FHA Appraiser. She started and built up her own residential appraisal company, which became one of the top three companies in Southern Nevada that was used by a major national home builder.
Sharon has written two preschool safety books, which were awarded the Family Review Center’s Best of 2014 Award. These books teach young children about personal safety in a fun, non-scary way. The books are currently in use in many child development centers and Head Start classrooms. She also developed two innovative safety and anti-bullying programs for three to ten year olds, and a program to train employees and volunteers to recognize the signs of child abuse, neglect and trafficking.
